When winter began in the Donetsk region, we visited the dogshelter in Kramatorsk. We knew that it had been badly damaged several months earlier because a missile had hit nearby.

What we saw then broke our hearts.

On the one hand because of the cold, but also because they were already sick, three dogs had died in the days before. It was -12 degrees Celsius at the time.

We saw that the kennels, which had previously been built by a large organization, were simply too big: The dogs couldn’t warm them up with their own body heat.

Base UA was immediately on the spot. Within a very short time, we were able to collect enough donations to buy materials for small huts inside the kennels. We then insulated these additionally.

Wonderful people from the organizations Crisis Relief Team and Universal Aid Ukraine supported us in this major task.
